Jose Mourinho signs a new 4 year-long contract with Chelsea valued at £8.5m

Jose Mourinho’s return to Stamford Bridge was a hugely successful one for the Portuguese coach as pushed Chelsea to their 5th Premier League title as the English team looked strong from the start of the 2014-15 season till the very end and the Capital One Cup was also secured by Chelsea in that same season.

Following this success, it comes as no surprise to know that Jose Mourinho has signed a contract extension with Chelsea. Mourinho inked a new contract with Chelsea which will allow him to earn£8.5m per season salary which actually isn’t any increase from his previous contract. The rest of the coaching staff of Chelsea have also signed a contract extension for that same period of time.

Chelsea has had a large amount of managers taking over the squad and being replaced at a quick pace. Carlo Ancelotti, Andre Villas- Boas, Roberto Di Matteo, GuusHiddink and Rafael Benitez are all of the coaches that have taken up the managerial position in the Premier League club but were sacked after a fairly short period of time.

Some of those sackings occurred in a very surprising manner as Roberto Di Matteo was removed as the manager after having won the Champions League title. Carlo Ancelotti sealed the FA Cup and the Premier League titles during his first season in charge of the club but it wasn’t enough for his job to be saved as the Italian managed was sacked one year later.

However, with Jose Mourinho it does seem like the head chiefs of Chelsea are supportive and have faith in the Portuguese coach and this is evident by the recent contract extension but in exchange of this confidence, Mourinho will have to continue winning major titles if he wants to continue staying in charge of the Premier League club.

Even with all of the confidence and faith that the owner and executives of Chelsea have placed on Mourinho, if he unable to keep on winning more titles consistently for the club, his time in Stamford Bridge will certainly be reaching it’s end.
