INTER CHASING BOSINGWA

Italian club Inter Milan are looking at the possibility of signing Chelsea right back José Bosingwa on a free transfer at the end of this season.

The Portuguese right back is out of contract at the end of the season, but Chelsea could still activate a clause in his contract that will extend his contract by another year.

In such a scenario, it will be interesting to see if Inter Milan still retain their interest in the player. Inter Milan are looking to replace Brazilian right back Maicon in the summer. It is a move that has been seen as a way to reduce the huge wage bill at the club.

However, if Inter Milan manage to sign José Bosingwa, then he is also likely to command wages in the region of £ 100,000 per week. A number of clubs are also interested in the Portuguese player including the likes of AC Milan and Real Madrid.

Bosingwa was once linked with a move to Bayern Munich, but that move fell through after the player got an injury that kept him out for a season. José Bosingwa was signed by Brazilian manager Scolari from FC Porto for £ 16 million. However, he has never really been the first choice defender under any manager since then.

Maicon is currently on a contract worth around £ 130,000 per week, thus making him one of the most expensive defenders in the world. Inter Milan are struggling financially and the huge wage bill is seen as one of the main problems at the club. Even though players like Diego Milito earn a lot than Maicon, the club are looking at the possibility of spending less money on defenders. José Mourinho is also looking at the possibility of replacing Alvaro Arbeloa at Real Madrid with José Bosingwa.
