FOCUS ON ALBERT RIERA

Albert Riera Ortega is a Spanish football player who plays both as a left winger and left defender. He shot to fame after he shined at Espanyol and went on to win Copa Del Rey and a UEFA Cup Final appearance in 2006.

His professional career also extended to Greece, England and France and he made the Spanish national team in 2007. Riera was born on 15th April 1982 in Manacor, Spain and he was capped 16 times for his country.

COSTA LINKED TO CHELSEA

Diego Costa has been one of the breakout stars this season having already scored 19 goals, its no wonder why he is one of the most sought out players in Europe.

Chelsea and Arsenal were linked with the Brazilian forward but the director of football of Atletico Madrid Jose Luis Caminero is confident that Costa is not interested in making a move to any other club.

He said in an interview with Marca: “Right now Costa does not think of leaving, he is contracted to Atletico. He has renewed with us which is important. He has shown that he wants to continue at this club.”

Former Portugal international defender Jose Bosingwa is set to become the second former Chelsea player to sign for Turkish giants Trabzonspor with reports emerging from Turkey stating that the Queens Park Rangers is in the country to finalize his move from Queens Park Rangers.

The former FC Porto defender endured a torrid time at London club Queens Park Rangers last time and with the Turkish club which will be playing in Europe next terms offering him an escape route when there were no takers for his signature, decided to jump ship at the first opportunity.

HILL SLAMS BOSINGWA

The defender of QPR, Clint Hill, has criticized his teammate Jose Bosingwa for his attitude. Bosingwa has recently been fined by the manager of QPR, Harry Redknapp, for refusing to sit on the bench in the Premier League match against Fulham. QPR went on to win the match by 2-1.

When asked about Bosingwa being fined, Hill said, “I think the manager has taken a correct decision. He is in charge of the club and the players should respect his decisions. If he wants a player to sit on the bench in a particular match, the player shouldn’t have any problem in doing that. If you are refusing to do that, it means you are not committed enough for the club.”

MONACO CHASE BOSINGWA

The French club AS Monaco are not looking to sign the former Chelsea defender José Bosingwa, who is now available on a free transfer after having released by his former club following the end of last season.

José Bosingwa was part of the Chelsea team that managed to lift the FA Cup and the Champions League title last season. However, the contract of the 29-year-old was not renewed by the club. They also did not take up the option of extending by another season because the club was looking to bring down the age of the squad.
